What do you know?
Two men approached the Heavenly gates fresh from this world
of sin,
where an angel met them as they stood and
kindly let them in.
"Welcome, good souls!" he uttered at last. "Let's find for you a home.
But before we do, you surely know that
Heaven's a three tiered throne.
Three kingdoms exist up here on high for the souls that
scoured,
who down below served different gods of
gold and self and power.
With glories of the sun and moon and even the stars,
a final test awaits you know and bid you
here this hour."
With Gentle eyes he turned to them, a smile upon his face,
"Welcome, good souls!" he said, You earned
your first estate.
From here you'll prove what you learned from living on the earth,
what kingdom best fulfills your needs. You
sought it from your birth."
Continuing on, he exhorted them and before them a door
appeared,
the angel pointed to the first, "Go in!
You've nothing there to fear."
The first soul entered through the door and met a kindly man,
who bade him sit to tell his tale and of
the Son of Man.
"What do you know of the Son of God?" He asked him genuinely.
"Did you know He died for you? That He bled
on Calgary?"
The first man's heart beat sound and strong; he knew this was his test.
He answered most assuredly and gave his
very best.
He quoted scriptures sure and true and testified of the
divinity.
"That's what I know of Jesus Christ who
suffered in Gethsemane."
A moon lit glow filled up the room, descending on his soul.
The kind man spoke and said to him, "Your
life has paid it's tool."
"You took the time to learn of God and serve Him in your way.
Terrestrial realms await you now, awarded
you this day!
The angel once again spoke up, pointing to the man left out.
"It's your turn now," he said to him,
"There is no need to doubt."
The second man turned meekly back and met the angels gaze.
"My life's been one of sin and regret.
Please, on my knees I prayed
that the dear Lord would forgive my sins and I'd amend my life.
He changed my heart, my thoughts and deeds,
He took away my strife."
"I'm not here to judge you friend," the angel did implore.
"I'm only here to guide you home. Enter
through yonder door."
The second soul entered through the door and met the kindly man
who bade him sit to tell his tale and of
the Son of Man.
"What do you know of the Son of God?" he asked him genuinely,
"Did you know He died for you? That He bled
on Calgary?"
Then overcome with humility and filled with Heaven's grace,
he tried to find the strength to speak and
look upon His face.
The room aglow with sun-like fire, whose countenance was not
odd,
was justified by his meek words, "Thou art
the Son of God."
The Savior spoke and raised him up, "I love thee little lamb.
Many come unto this place; few know the Son
of Man."
