It was finally over. It had been a very trying day.
Upon his return home, he felt he needed to pray.
The need to get things done had stressed and worn him out.
Leaving him beat down with worried thoughts of self doubt.
He felt to pray for help. To ask that he not falter.
So he knelt at the couch and used it’s pillow as an alter.
Now, many things are asked for when one begins to pray,
with troubles abounding, there’s always plenty to say.
But as he began, he thought of all the Lord had done,
all that had been given him from the Father and His Son.
So he offered the shortest prayer he ever offered before.
These are the words he uttered as he knelt upon the floor.
"Oh God the Eternal Father, of all I’d like to sue,
all I feel to say is to tell you that, ...I love you."
He then uttered the same verse. Slowly and one more time,
came the simple humble words, sounding as a child’s rhyme.
He expected no answer, just wanting to express his love
for the One who watches over him from so very far above.
But then a beautiful and wondrous feeling slowly fell upon
him.
One that engulfed his being, from his head to his furthest
limb.
The feeling brought such joy that suddenly he burst into
tears.
And he heard a voice from above but not with his earthly
ears.
It came to his heart and soul, piercing him through and
through.
The words were sweet and simple. He heard, "...I love you
too."
